Winter Park

Winter Park FL is an historic city in the northeast corner of Orlando. The town was founded in the 1880s by well-to-do Northerners looking for a balmy subtropical climate. Today, it remains a vision of lush prosperity. The main street features grand mansions, moss-draped oaks, and banana plants.

Winter Park FL is home to about 32,000 people and is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). This community is primarily comprised of retirees and young professionals. The town has two zip codes, 32789 and 32792, with 32789 considered the prime zip code for the area. Although this zip code is considered prime for the city, it is not completely exclusive. A few houses in this zip code fall under Orange County jurisdiction.

Winter Park FL is also home to Rollins College, an institution of higher learning with stunning Spanish-Mediterranean architecture. The college has a prestigious reputation and is one of the first four-year colleges in Florida. The campus also houses the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, which has the largest collection of Louis Comfort Tiffany paintings in the world.

The town was named after Charles Hosmer Morse, a Chicago-based industrialist who owned hundreds of acres of land in the area. This wealthy individual generously donated land to the town. In addition to the community park, he donated land for a golf course and a country club, as well as Central Park.
